The meeting opened at 10.00 am.
1. Child poverty in Scotland: The Committee took evidence on the Scottish Government's progress in tackling child poverty in Scotland from—
Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Samantha Coope, Head of Tackling Poverty Team, Jim Stephen, Head of Early Education and Childcare, Linda Sheridan, Head of Delivery, Fuel Poverty, and Julie Bilotti, Policy Manager, Employability Team, Scottish Government.
2. Overview of local government in Scotland 2009: The Committee took evidence from—
John Baillie, Chair, Accounts Commission;
Fraser McKinlay, Director of Best Value and Scrutiny Improvement, and Gordon Smail, Portfolio Manager (Local Government), Audit Scotland.
3. Decision on taking business in private: The Committee agreed that its consideration of a draft report to the Finance Committee on the Scottish Government's Budget Strategy 2011-12 should be taken in private at future meetings.
