Inquiry into out-of-hours healthcare provision in rural areas

The Committee published its report on this inquiry, Report on out-of-hours healthcare provision in rural areas, on Friday 23 April 2010. A Committee news release on the report is also available.
The Committee expects to receive a response from the Scottish Government to the recommendations in this report by Friday 18 June 2010. The Committee will then decide who it wishes to proceed with the report.
Inquiry
The Health and Sport Committee is currently undertaking a short inquiry into out-of-hours healthcare provision in rural areas of Scotland. The inquiry will examine the changes to out-of-hours provision in rural areas and the resultant effect on:
- The quality of out-of-ours care in rural areas, with a specific focus on clinical safety and effectiveness
- The accessibility and availability of out-of-hours care in rural areas
- The sustainability and cost of out-of-hours care in rural areas
